Subsidised Physiotherapy Telehealth Consultations - What you need to know

It has been made clear by The Australian Physiotherapy Association and Federal Minister for Health that Allied Health is essential and we are encouraged to continue providing care

Our clinic remains open 6 days per week for consultations and rehabilitation. In addition, Physiotherapy Telehealth (video) treatment sessions are now being subsidised by Medicare, DVA, NDIS and selected private health funds.

To access subsidised Physiotherapy services you will still need a referral from your GP (if you don't already have one in place at our clinic). GP clinics remain open, and you can obtain a referral without leaving your house via Telehealth (video) consultations.

MEDICARE: Medicare-subsided telehealth (online) Physiotherapy services are now available at our clinic. For those wanting to access this health service, a Referral and Medicare EPC chronic health plan from your GP is required. For patients whom have existing Medicare referrals and plans at our clinic, these can be used for telehealth consultations as of Monday 30th March 2020. Medicare referrals for Enhanced Primary Care provided via Telehealth will be BULK BILLED.

NDIS funding Telehealth Physiotherapy services are now available at our clinic.

HEALTH FUNDS: From 14th April 2020 Health Funds will also be offering subsidised Telehealth consultations under selected eligibility criteria including:

For NEW PATIENTS: Telehealth consultations are eligible for rebates if physiotherapy service has been recommended by their GP or medical specialist AND the primary condition being treated is one of:

  • Post orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation (e.g. Total hip or knee replacement)

  • Chronic musculoskeletal condition

  • Cardiac rehabilitation

  • Pulmonary rehabilitation, or

  • Pelvic floor muscle training.

Patients should check with their Private Health Fund for eligibility. As HICAPS facilities will not be available for TeleHealth consultations, payment in full will be required after which you can claim your rebate through your Health Fund.

So don't wait to get onto that chronic condition - via Telehealth we can set you on the right path, provide you with self management and exercise to get you started today.
